The 'Etch-A-Sketch' Finish
It was a remarkable moment this evening in La Trinité sur Mer, SW Brittany. The day was drawing to a close as the big trimaran's starboard float, with the bow stripped back, slowly drew alongside the Quai des pêcheurs. "When you see her here, you say to yourself that ultimately it's a simple feat," commented the sailor as he stood looking from the pontoon at "this boat which was my companion for 60 days. You often transfer human qualities onto her but when you're faraway, she is synonymous with your shelter, your survival, above all else."

NEWS : Setback aboard Sodebo
At 1540 GMT, Thomas Coville was involved in a collision with no direct impact on the boats ability to make headway. When he went up on deck to assess the situation, he discovered that the skin of the crash box at the front of the starboard float had come away, doubtless as a result of colliding with a pilot whale. A crash box is a sacrificial bow whose role is similar to that of a bumper on a car.

NEWS: Cape Horn is a Gift from Above
It is incredible. I am rounding the Horn with you. I am with Neutrogena (Ed. note: one of the monohulls from the Barcelona World Race) which is just 50 metres from me! It is the first time I have passed so close to the Horn. I am 200 metres away. (It is exactly 1124 GMT, early morning at Cape Horn, as Thomas Coville announces mid audio link-up that he is passing the longitude of Cape Horn live).
